Famous Animals Walk of Fame

Everyone knows of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but did you know there are different kinds of walks of fame all over the world. The Poker Walk of Fame in Commerce or the Porn Star Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. But there is only one walk of fame for movie stars that are taken on walks:

The TV & Movie Animal Walk of Fame

Picture Animal Top Stars of the Year
Located at the Burbank Animal Shelter, a small monument (really slabs of concert on the front lawn) honor some of the recipients of the PATSY Awards. Originated by the American Humane Association in 1939, the PATSYs (Picture Animal Top Star of the Year) honored animal performers in television and film each year. The American Humane Association is the organization responsible for the disclaimer "No Animals Were Harmed in the making of this show/film". Unfortunately the awards ended due to lack of funding in 1986. It's a shame really, so many greats like the Beethoven Dog or the Homeward Bound Cat never got the recognition they deserved.

The first recipient of the award was Francis the Talking Mule in 1951.

Golden Age of Cinema

Other paw, hoof and webbed imprints on the walk of fame include:

Benji The Dog
Beni Foot Prints 1960 Award Winner

Samantha the Goose (Role in The Friendly Persuasion) 1957

Shaggy Dog
Shaggy (Dog) 1960

And of Course, everyone's favorite:
Gyspy The Horse (Gyspy Colt)
So if you are on your way to the Burbank Costco, stop by for five minutes and check out the stars of yesteryear.
